The Robert "Bob" Simmons, Carnine - Wiseman VFW Post 3280 Scholarship program is established to encourage students to continue their education upon graduating from high school.
Applicants must be a current year graduating high school student.
Applicants must submit current GPA (Grade Point Average), which must be verified by Applicants school counselor.
Applicants must plan to attend an accredited College or University; trade schools will not be accepted.
Scholarship Applicants must submit a hand written essay, (300 to 500 words) describing their special talents and leadership skills along with any volunteer community service performed.
Essay should also include Applicant's educational goals and why they are seeking higher education.
Applicants must appear before a Scholarship selection committee for a personal interview.
No more than five questions submitted by the selection committee will be asked during the interview and each Applicant will be asked the same questions.
Applicants will be rated based on GPA, written essay score and interview score.
The top four applicants will each receive a $1000.00 scholarship.
The scholarship check will be issued in the applicants name to the College or University the applicant is to attend.
